Remember there are 4 types of item in the 4 Stage Model.

So viewing items is about viewing a Chain of items. You can navigate along the Chain to view earlier or later items.
Items are viewed on 'Information Cards' with a diagram above the information card.
The diagram shows you how things were generated from an earlier stage. Each item you see in the diagram is therefore part of what is know as "the current chain".

Figure: View a 4 Stage Chain to your Current Action |
The 'chain' in the diagram above the 'Information Card' lets you see
which Issue generated, which Proposal, and which Proposal generated the current Action.
The diagram mirrors the 4 Stage Model of Community Planning, but of course the chain only shows 4 stages when you are viewing an Action.
So if you are viewing a Proposal then the chain will show only 3 stages; Plan ->Issue -> Proposal.
Likewise if you are viewing an Issue the chain diagram will show only 2 stages, etc.

There is no diagram when viewing a Plan because the Plan is the start item.
In the earlier stage boxes you can click on the (green) Title text to switch to viewing that stage.

Once you have a specific Plan, Issue, Proposal, or Action on the screen you are viewing a 'chain'. You can view an item earlier in the 'chain' by clicking on its Title in the diagram. Alternatively you can click to any Tab named for the item types that can be made later in the chain. These Tabs have a --> right pointing arrow in the Tab Title. Here you see a list of items made later in the 'chain' and from that list you can click on a Title to choose to view a later item. You have then moved forward along the Chain.
The procedure is the same at each stage, except of course, there is nothing earlier than Plan and nothing later than Action in any chain.

You will see that the 'Information Cards' below the diagram have Tabbed Headings which you can click on to review different set of fields, or to see the list of item later in the 'chain'. The different stages in the 4 Stage Model have different fields and the Action stage item has more Tabs because it has more fields.
When you first view any item you will usually want to view the item's summary Tab first. But you may want to look at the other Tabs by clicking to them.
Only on an Action item (this is the end of a Chain)
do you see an Information Tab called e.g. "Related Proposals"
On this Tab you see a list of Titles of Proposals which have been cross-referenced to the current Action
because the Action, whilst delivering on its primary Proposal also supports these other Proposals.
An Action may fully deliver to its primary Proposal but it may partially help or deliver some element of a cross-referenced Proposal, so it is said to be Related to these other Proposals.

On an Action you may also want to know about which organisations are helping to pay for the Action, and which organisations are part of implementation or service delivery to the Community. When a Community enters an Action on to the system they can say who they are approaching for funding and how much money they are applying for, from each organisation. You can view this information by clicking to the Tab marked Funders.
On an Action a Community can also keep track of which organisations they have approached, what response they have had and what the current relationship is with Partners who may be responsible for deliverying changed services etc. to the Community. To see this information click to the Tab labelled Partners.

If you are logged on as the user account that created the item (i.e. the Plan, Issue, Proposal or Action) then you will see buttons above the "chain diagram" that let you do one of 3 things.

The editing procedure is the same for each stage, though the fields and the number of Tabs are different. You type in or select values from lists. Mandatory fields are marked with an asterix. These fields must have some value entered or you will not be allowed to "Save Data". Don't worry if you miss on by accident, when you click "Save Data" the system will put a red reminder message at the top of the "Input Card" to tell you which field you must put a value in. Don't worry if you are not sure, put in your best value and you can always come back and update it later.
Again the assiciating files procedure is the same for each stage, you can upload pictures and documents to any item in the Chain. To do so you click to Item, then click on the [Edit] button, and then click to the "Files" input tab, and following the instructions. You can click [Browse] button to see the diectories on your local computer, so that you canclick the file you want to upload. You then add a label and some description. If you accidentally upload the wrong file, or it becomes out of date you can click the [Remove] button next the bad file.

When you view an item you look at tabbed "Information Cards". When you update an item you edit values on tabbed "Input Cards"
On the first and last stages you will see a couple of extra tabbed "Input Cards", i.e. Plan and Action have extra Tabs.
When creating or updating a Plan object you will see an extra Tab called "Parishes". You just tick as many Praishes as are covered by your Community Plan. There are 422 Parishes in Devon and they are listed by District, so scroll down to see your District first, then look for your own Parish name(s).

The Action has 2 extra tabbed "Input Cards". First an extra "Input Card" for "Partners & Funders" that you might approach for help on implementing the Action. Complete both these fields by following the on-screen instructions.

When choosing an organisation, the system offers you a structured "Tree" you can expand each branch of the "Tree" to see what organisations are on offer by clicking on the [+] in a box. You can navigate up a level by clicking the "go back up a level" link. When you see the organisation you want click [Select]. If you click the organisation Title you see a description of the organisation but you have NOT actually selected it on to your Action.

The Action stage has a second extra "Input Card". If an Action will actually help implement more than just the Proposal in its own Chain, then you can select other Proposals to cross-reference to this Action. The Action and the additional Proposals have to exist first as part of their own Chains. Then any existing Proposal can be selected from the list, and cross-referenced to the current Action.
